I build doors.
No, I'm not a construction worker and No, I don't build doors physically. I build metaphorical doors for myself and others.
You see, every path we take in life starts at a door. Every time we make a decision to try something new, we are opening that door. I opened my door to the film-making world in early 2023 when I realized that I could use my passion for creative storytelling and video editing to make people laugh and smile.
Thus, Firegem Film was born. As a new media business, I got right to work picking up a second job to pay for videography equipment. With the help of my parents, I managed to get my hands on a Panasonic Lumix G7, a DJI Mini 2, and a ASAKO 4k Action Camera. I wrote up a 40 page business plan, and needless to say I was very determined. However, it wouldn't stay that way for very long. As a business, I focused on freelance work for other businesses, but something was missing. For starters, I was new and inexperienced. For another, I wasn't very passionate about my work. All of this led me to believe that Firegem Film was a dead end. That was until a new, or should I say... Old idea came into my head.
To understand where this idea came from, lets go back to 2021. I was in college studying pre-business at West Chester University. I had made some friends and had a whole lifestyle going. One day, I was hanging out with my high school buddy Joe. Me and Joe like to fib with each other every now and then, and one day I came up with what I thought was the king of all fibs. A secret society at college called "Spaghetti Club" It was basically just: a bunch of respectful partygoers that liked to have classy parties instead of raves in a secret location. For some reason, this fib became an inside joke. I probably would've forgotten about it had it not been for that. So suddenly my creative mind got to work. I changed the name, added unique characters, added drama, added themes, illustrated, and planned. Before I knew it what was a simple fib told to my friend Joe, had become "Kings Club"
So what was once an impractical joke, became one of the most creative works of art and a new passion for me. That is how stories are made and doors are built folks, and I cant wait to work on this project with my cast, crew, and everyone else.
